Jala Neti. the nasal douche

May 21, 2012

Yes, you have read correctly, today I am going to explain to you the procedure to clean your nostrils using the technique called jala neti. As you well know, yogis try purify your body so that their functions can be carried out without impediments, so they devised a method of nasal cleaning so that the nostrils would be very clean, and they could capture the prana optimally. There are two variants of jala neti: A) - Fill a bowl with water at the same temperature as your body, this makes it very pleasant, but if you prefer you can heat it a little more helping to eliminate more mucus, or if you prefer you can do it with cold water to stimulate the nerve endings of the nose - Add a tablespoon of salt for every half liter of water. - Tilt your head and submerge your nose in the water. The mouth remains out and half open. - Breathe in as much as possible through the nose, preventing it from going below the glottis. - Keep the water in your nostrils, holding your breath for a few seconds with your mouth closed. - Expel the water by exhaling through the nose. - Repeat for each side between three and five times. When you finish, you should dry your nostrils very well in the following way: stand up and interlock your hands behind your back. Lean your trunk forward until it is parallel to the ground at a right angle to your legs so that the water drains down. Then inhale and exhale forcefully until the nostrils are dry. B) - This variant is more effective than the previous one since you will help yourself neti burbot, this is a container similar to a teapot. - Fill the lot of salt water and insert the funnel into your left nostril while tilting your head to the right and breathing through your mouth. - The water will come out through the right nostril, but if not, it means that you must adjust the position of the head and lot until it happens. - After about 15 seconds, change sides and repeat the same operation. When you finish, do not forget to perform the drying ritual that I have explained in the previous variant.
