what is meditation

Meditating is not strange at all: it is a universal experience and sometimes we do it without realizing it. For example, when we are busy in an activity that we really like and we feel so happy and focused that we do not realize how time passes.
MEDITATION AND YOGA Meditation techniques help focus the mind and quiet that internal chatter that drains our energy and creates stress. In the yogic tradition, meditation is a practice to connect with universal consciousness. The asanas or postures are designed so that we can meditate more comfortably: with the body immobile and the spine erect, breathing consciously and with the mind concentrated. In this way, the subtle energy or prana flows more easily through the energy channels or nadis and we gain physical and emotional health.
MEDITATION AND PHYSICAL HEALTH Regular meditation helps reduce the negative effects of prolonged stress and can protect us from:
- muscle tensions
- lack of concentration and confused thinking
- respiratory problems
- physical fatigue, etc.
MEDITATION AND HAPPINESS Practicing meditation makes us more aware of ourselves and how we relate to our surroundings. Therefore, meditating regularly allows us to transform our quality of life, since we achieve a deeper understanding of our reality. From this understanding, we can respond wisely to the situations that come our way on a day-to-day basis.
